Learn To Play Hockey/ X-ICE

After a player has completed a Learn To Skate or equivalent program, they progress to the Learn To Play Program. Skaters don't have to be 100% fall-free in order to participate. The Learn To Play program is done in conjunction with The Valley Hockey League and Marblehead Youth Hockey Association coaches. The season runs from September through March, and consists of two practices and one game per week. The Wednesday night 50-minutes practices are coached by MYHA and are in Lynn at 5:00 PM. Saturday and Sunday sessions are in Beverly with players and coaches of several other area youth hockey programs on the ice at the same time as Marblehead. On Saturday, the ice is split up into 6 stations each with a different small area drill. Each team rotates through the stations. On Sunday, the ice is divided into 3 cross-ice games with a coach from each team on the ice. The smaller playing surface allows all players at every skill level to be involved in the action, increasing player's time with the puck and therefore increasing skill development for all players. All of this is in a collaborative, supportive and fun environment.

If there is  a  question as to if or when a player is ready to start the Learn To Play program, then please reach out to the League Administrator.

LTP Boot Camp

LTP Hockey Bootcamp is a 14 week program beginning Sunday November 6th at 9:30am at Salem State. MYHA designed this program for kids on a hockey path. The boot camp will provide highly specialized skating instruction in a small group setting limited to 20 skaters.  A minimum of 10 is required to run the program. Ideal candidates are kids aged 6-9 years that want to play hockey but are past the age group of our Learn To Skate program. Current players, upon coaches recommendation, can enroll in the program at 50% off.
